Canopy HS100 Heat-Sealable Paper: Live Overwrapping Demonstrations at PACK EXPO
Post date: 14 October 2026
As manufacturers consider alternatives to conventional plastic packaging, heat-sealable paper is becoming an increasingly interesting option for carton overwrapping.
At this year's PACK EXPO International in Chicago, we'll be working with Atlantic Packaging USA to demonstrate its Canopy HS100 paper running on our ME120B Overwrapper, wrapping cartons during live demonstrations throughout the show.
Paper-Based Alternative to Plastic Overwrap
Canopy HS100 is a fibre-based, heat-sealable paper developed as an alternative to conventional plastic packaging. Made from 100% certified virgin pulp sourced from sustainably managed fibres, it uses a water-based coating that allows the material to be heat-sealed while also supporting paper recycling.
The paper has passed Western Michigan University (WMU) testing for its suitability for paper recycling. It is also suitable for direct food contact.
Other properties include good strength and resistance to cracking when folded, together with a bright bleached kraft surface suitable for flexographic and gravure printing. These characteristics make it suitable for a variety of applications, including food, dry goods and e-commerce packaging.
The material can also be converted into wrappers, bags and pouches, depending on the packaging requirements.
Live Carton Overwrapping on our ME120B
During PACK EXPO, we'll be using Canopy HS100 to wrap individual cartons on our ME120B Overwrapper, demonstrating how the paper is folded and heat-sealed around each product.
In the meantime, if you'd like a preview of our ME120B in action, take a look at the video below.
